The project provides Jordanians with clear and comprehensive economic information, through which it will increase the level of transparency and understanding of the Jordanian economy and the Economic Reform Program under the IMF’s Stand-by Arrangement. Regular reports on the macro and budgetary Economic situation will enable open dialogue between all stakeholders and decision makers on Jordan’s long-term economic priorities while working collectively to determine the best path.

Project Purpose

To encourage strong, legitimate socio-economic policies in Jordan and enhanced civic engagement and debate in Government accountability The project will provide Jordanians with clear and comprehensive economic information, through which will increase the level of transparency and understanding of the Jordanian economy and the Economic Reform Program under the IMF’s Stand-by Arrangement. This will enable open dialogue between all stakeholders and decision makers on Jordan’s long-term economic priorities while working collectively to determine the best path.

Outputs

Output 1: Identity Center expertise built in economic reform program implementation, monitoring and planning.

  • Identity Center and Experts introductory meeting and Capacity Building retreat
  • Project evaluation and final reporting.

Output 2: Jordanian socio-economic situation analysed through four annual reports, 6 quarterly updates, 4 ad hoc reports and 2 surveys over the project period.

  • Formation of Committee of Experts and organization of first committee meeting
  • Production of annual economic report on the Jordanian economy
  • Quarterly experts meetings
  • Quarterly revisions and progress reports
  • One-off papers produced on key issues and publication of timely statements (ad hoc)
  • Yearly economic survey

Output 3: Enhanced dialogue on socio-economic issues among stakeholders leading to greater influence in Government socio-economic policies.

  • Publication and media release of the annual economic reports
  • Workshop on findings of the annual economic report with relevant stakeholders
  • Quarterly open workshops

Output 4: Increased knowledge of the socio-economic issues across all 12 Governorates including capacity building of CSOs in 3 pilot Governorates.

  • Quarterly Governorate level workshops during second year
  • Regional Focus Groups for second year annual economic report
  • Training 2 CSOs in three of 3 Governorates
